Costa Rica Trip Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Costa Rica

Price does not include optional activities and subsequent transportation.

Saturday Afternoon
  • Arrive at San Jose's Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO) in Costa Rica and be ready to begin your adventure at 3:00 p.m.
  • Your Community Manager will pick you up from the airport, and we’ll head to the beach!  (~1.5-hour drive)
  • Make a quick stop at Rio Tarcoles where you can see groups of Costa Rican Crocodiles. These crocs can reach lengths of up to 12 feet (3.6 meters)!
  • Arrive at Playa Hermosa, a beautiful black sand beach recognized as one of the most consistent surf breaks in the world. Soak in your first of many sunsets in Costa Rica and don’t forget to bring your bathing suit!
Evening
  • After a swim, enjoy your first dinner as a group right by one of the coolest black sand beaches in the country.
  • Depart to our boutique hostel in Manuel Antonio. (~1-hour drive)
  • Get settled into your private room and relax after your long travel day.

Day 2: Manuel Antonio National Park

Sunday Morning
  • Wake up in your new home away from home and have a delicious Costa Rican breakfast.
  • Spend your morning hiking Manuel Antonio National Park with your Community Manager. This trail is a great opportunity to see white-faced monkeys in their natural habitat, especially in the mornings. The trail also has several great viewpoints along the way. If you have a sharp eye, you may even be able to spot a sloth!
Afternoon
  • End your hike at one of the most beautiful beaches inside Manuel Antonio, National Park.
  • Enjoy lunch and stop back at your room to change out of your swimsuit.
  • Go with your Community Manager to he local town of Quepos, a ten-minute bus ride, to get acquainted with the local supermarkets, pharmacies, laundry service, and cell phone stores.
Evening
  • Watch the sunset on the malecon and walk the boardwalk to Marina Pez Vela, an area along the water with several restaurants and good WiFi.

Day 3: Co-working Begins

Monday Morning

  • Enjoy a delicious Costa Rican breakfast right at your hostel.
  • Join one of the hostel’s group workout classes. Several times a week yoga, pilates, salsa classes, and HIIT training are offered. Classes are staggered throughout the day to accommodate varying work schedules.
  • Begin your first of many workdays in your co-working space with your new friends.

Afternoon

  • Co-workers will mostly be on their own during the week, but feel free to grab a friend and walk to several great restaurants and coffee shops with strong WiFi in the area.
Evening
  • After work, head to the beach to decompress after your day.
  • Catch some waves and stay for an incredible sunset.
  • Find dinner around town, or cook for yourself at the local hostel.

Day 5: Humpday Dinners

Wednesday Morning

  • Get up early for an optional walk on the beach. Bring a friend and don’t miss out on this precious part of the day as the jungle awakens.
  • Enjoy an authentic Costa Rican breakfast when you get back to the hostel.
  • Hop online after breakfast from the co-working space and begin your workday with a smile!
Afternoon
  • Enjoy lunch on your own at a restaurant like El Avión, a restaurant built into a cold war era cargo plane overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
  • Get some more work done before meeting up with your friends to kayak, paddleboard, surf, or relax in your hammock under a palm tree.
Evening
  • Enjoy an included humpday dinner with the group to build community among your digital nomad friends and catch some live music on the Patio of Café Milagro.
  • After sunset, don’t forget to look up at the sky…Costa Rica has incredible stargazing!

Day 7: TGIF!

Friday Morning

  • Maybe you prefer to go to the gym rather than a group class at your hostel? If so, you will be within walking distance to MA Fitness and can join for the month.
  • Have coffee and a smoothie with local fruits for breakfast as you try not to look too sunburnt on Zoom.

Afternoon

  • Have a working lunch by sending a Whatsapp to any of the local restaurants that deliver, so you can get your work done early today.
Evening
  • After work, join your group and take the bus to the local farmer’s market in Quepos. Fridays are Quepos’ best display of culture when all the local people get paid and go to the market.
  • Enjoy an included dinner with the group at a local restaurant.
  • Enjoy a night out on the town with your group, or relax before tomorrow’s adventure.

Day 8: Weekend Jungle Trip

Saturday Morning

  • Enjoy a traditional breakfast included in your month-long stay. If you need a break from Costa Rican food, enjoy typical American breakfasts offered around town.
  • Depart for a waterfall hike with your Community Manager.

Afternoon

  • Take a break from your adventure by having lunch at a local restaurant in rural Costa Rica.
Evening
  • Have dinner with the group at a local restaurant back in Manuel Antonio.
  • Enjoy a night out on the town with your group, or relax before tomorrow’s adventure.

Day 10-14: Co-working & Optional Adventures

Weekday Mornings

  • Wake up early to take advantage of cooler mornings to walk the beach, surf, practice yoga, or hike a local trail.
  • Enjoy a local breakfast included during your stay.
  • Fob into your co-working space and say hello to your fellow co-workers.

Afternoons

  • Take a break from work to enjoy lunch at one of Manuel Antonio’s excellent restaurants. Bring your laptop to Emilio’s Cafe to enjoy some time working with an incredible view.
  • If needed, go back to your private room to take confidential Zoom calls.

Evenings

  • Sunset is around 6:00 p.m, so hurry down to the beach after work to catch a glimpse with your group.
  • There is always something going on this time of year in Manuel Antonio, like live music or a local soccer match. In addition to your group, the town offers a nice mix of locals and ex-pats to befriend.

Day 15: Catamaran Trip

Saturday Morning

  • Wake up to the sounds of nature in your jungle abode.
  • Recount last night with your travel buddies over breakfast. Friday nights in Quepos and Manuel Antonio can be a lot of fun. This is Costa Rican summer, don’t forget!
  • Enjoy a free morning to participate in whatever adventure activities you’d like to embark on or relax at the pool.

Afternoon

  • After lunch, head to Marina Pez Vela for a fun afternoon on the Pacific Ocean.
  • Go on a catamaran tour to see the Savegre Biosphere Reserve. Look for dolphins, swim in the ocean, and enjoy drinks and a light barbecue onboard with an amazing sunset!

Evening

  • Shower off back in your acommodations and enjoy an included light dinner with the group.
  • Go out for another night out in Costa Rica, or lay back and relax in a hammock at your hostel.
  • If looking for a nighttime adventure, we highly recommend a jungle tour. Nocturnal animals you are likely to see are tree frogs, nocturnal birds, snakes, spiders, and scorpions. You may spot nocturnal mammals such as anteaters, coatis, raccoons, deer, ocelots, opossums, armadillos, or sloths.

Day 16: Free Day

Sunday Morning

  • Breakfast will be served at your accommodations, as always.
  • We’ve left your Sundays free for you to relax and recharge for the work week ahead.

Afternoon

  • Try one of the many restaurants on the beach, or opt for an empanada made by a local.
  • Join a pickup soccer game on the beach, relax in your hammock, or lounge poolside.
  • Sundays are also great free days to go on a day trip of your own to nearby local towns of Dominical or Uvita.
  • We suggest checking out the local waterfalls including Nauyaca, Eco Chontales, and Uvita.
  • Going to Marina Ballena National Park is only an hour’s drive away. Take the local bus or rent a car with some friends from your group.
  • Visiting the cloud forest in Monteverde is another fantastic suggestion, just a couple of hours from Manuel Antonio.
  • Full-day trips to the Osa Peninsula and Corcovado National Park are also a great idea. We suggest taking a day off from work and spending the night!

Evening

  • With 24/7 access to the air-conditioned co-working space, feel free to get a jump on the week to free up a little time for your weeknight activities
  • Enjoy dinner on your own or with friends from your group.

Day 17-21: Co-working

Mornings

  • Breakfast
  • Optional exercise at your accommodations
  • Do work!

Afternoons

  • Working lunches around town, delivery, or eat at the cafe below your co-working space.

Evenings

  • Enjoy happy hours, live music, sunsets, walks on the beach, and maybe some time to surf.
  • Don’t forget about our included Humpday Dinners each Wednesday to build community among the group!
  • Take part in optional local cooking classes, chocolate making, or salsa dancing. There is always something going on around town.

Day 22: Community Project

Saturday Morning

  • Enjoy breakfast at your hostel or opt to treat yourself at a local cafe.
  • Take a local ferry boat to the small island of El Cocal, Costa Rica.
  • This community is home to immigrants from all around Central America and does not receive regular benefits from the Costa Rican government.
  • Participate in a cultural exchange at the local community center, where local women will show you how to make traditional Costa Rican dishes.
  • See an area of Costa Rica you wouldn’t normally get to see as a tourist and enjoy a delicious lunch.
  • Proceeds from your meal go directly to the local families and the community center.

Afternoon

  • Enjoy one of the many beaches in the area, lounge under a palm tree, relax poolside, go kayaking, or go on a nature walk.

Evening

  • Reflect on your time in this special community with your group over dinner.
  • Listen to a local DJ spin at a nearby disco and dance the night away.

Day 23: Free Day

Sunday Morning

  • Have another delicious breakfast in your accommodations’ cafe.
  • On your free days, you consider taking the local bus to nearby towns like Jaco, Dominical, Uvita, or even San José.
  • Quepos has a small landing strip with flights operated by Sansa Airlines, and Costa Rica Green Airlines. San José is only 25 minutes away by air, and many folks fly to other parts of Costa Rica for the day, or a quick overnight trip.

Afternoon

  • Other ideas for your Sunday could include visiting Isla de Damas, a nearby island by boat, or travel up the local estuary on a mangrove tour.
  • Check out a nature reserve and rehabilitation center like Kids Saving the Rainforest or go zip-lining or canyoning for a jungle canopy tour.

Evening

  • Watch the sunset, catch up on some work in the co-working space, or get together with your fellow nomads for a game night.
  • Dinner on your own tonight so go try a new spot, or return to one of your favorites.

Day 24-28: Co-working

Mornings

  • Wake up early to enjoy the cool jungle mornings!
  • Breakfast at your accommodations is always served fresh.
  • Optional exercises include HIIT training, yoga, pilates, and more.
  • Co-work with your fellow travelers sipping Costa Rican coffee. Make your co-workers jealous Zooming poolside.

Afternoons

  • Get your creative juices flowing, inspired by incredible views of the Pacific Ocean at various cafes over lunch.

Evenings

  • Treat yourself to a massage or spa treatment.
  • Experience local culture and keep up with your fitness at a nearby gym.
  • Listen to reggae or reggaeton at a nearby happy hour.
  • Find a sports bar and cheer for a Costa Rican soccer match.
  • Keep improving your surfing, and enjoy these incredible sunsets on the beach!
  • Wednesday will include another Humpday dinner with the group.
  • Friday night we’ll host a closing dinner and final night out with the group.

Day 29: ¡Adios Costa Rica!

Saturday Morning

  • Wake up to the sounds of the jungle one last time.
  • Have your last dish of gallo pinto for breakfast and take a Costa Rican coffee to go.
  • Depart for Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO) on included transportation. (~2.5-hour drive)
  • Arrive at the airport at 11:30 a.m for departing international flights.
